ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY
Thunderbird Stadium is located on the UBC campus, 10 km / 6.2 miles from downtown Vancouver. There are many bus lines that run from the Vancouver area to the stadium.
Parking:
Due to the ease of public transport links, there was no preferential carpool park for this show. Audience members were encouraged to take the bus or ride their bicycles.
Energy:
The venue electricity is supplied by BC Hydro which is 97% hydroelectric power.
Recycling:
The venue has a full recycling and composting program backstage as well as recycling throughout the audience area. Urbanimpact helps with the sorting of recyclables.
Catering:
Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, and biodegradable cups for all meals. As with almost all of our shows, water coolers were provided for use with our refillable water bottles. Uncooked catering waste was composted on site.
Concessions:
The concessions company uses recyclable plastic cups and bottles which are recycled by the venue. All venue waste is sorted for recyclables.
Other green initiatives/issues:
The venue has installed low flow faucets, low flow shower heads, green hand soap, recycled paper toilet paper and hand towels. They also use vegetable ink and paper wristbands instead of vinyl ones.
Many thanks to Graham Hicks and Dave Fortune for their help throughout the show.
